will find that hard to believe; knowing me as you
do. Which leads me to the question of what comes first?
Do we learn how to read before we talk, or do we learn
how to talk before we read?
Ahhh no matter, my mind is already moving forward
to my next thought.
How can I possible describe my obsession/passion
for books? I can't! But what I can do is let
you peek into my library.
As my appetite is as eclectic
as my cuisine, there will be no doubt that each month
you will grasp the flavours that
entice me to want more. This craving is one
that is never satisfied. (at least for me)
I love fiction and non-fiction. I adore
Nutrition and Health, of course, but autobiographies
also tempt me to discover that as humans we are no different.
I love self-discovery for the obvious!
Each month I will unveil 3 books of my choosing. For all
you authors out there, you will do well to send me a copy
so I can highlight yours too. As I read everything that is recommended,
I will do similar reviews to the over 40,000 members
that are part of our unique gathering. This is one serving that will
do more than enlighten your mind, it will also open your heart
and feed your soul.
What is summer without some good reads, must reads,
should reads? Well it is not summer if you ask me.
I have chosen these 3 books for our female readers.
You will laugh, reflect, wipe a few tears and most of all
be energized. These books were all written by women as well.
Two of these authors I know personally and one I wish I did.
Let's begin with
"Shout from the Rooftops with your Stilettos"
by Missy Julie Hunt.
www.shesite.com

Besides being such a free spirit, I love how Julie gets the message
out that we need to lighten up a little.
She reminds us all that our lives can be filled with love, joy,
passion and indeed fulfillment. She supplies the reader with great
tips on how to create happier lives. Her book is filled with little exercises,
tidbits of information on how to re-create ourselves...
I know every time I speak
with her, I experience euphoria. I always have her book on hand
when I need a little reminder to put my stilettos on and get on my rooftop
and shout.... "I want more JULIE, just a wee bit more of the spontaneous
exciting you". Well, that'sjust me.....

My next choice is
"The Art of Table Dancing"
by Ms DC Stanfa.
www.dcstanfa.com
I know, I know, I thought the same thing when I heard
DC speak about her new book. I am not sure I really want
to know how to table dance....!
But it is just a metaphor of how her life has unfolded.
I found once I picked up her book, I could not put it down.
Our lives could not have been more different. And yet
there is something so genuine, funny and appealing to DC's style
of writing. She is similar to Erma Bombeck, always poking fun
at herself for not getting life lessons as they reached out and tapped
her shoulder. No, this lady needed to have a two by four
almost run her down.
Her life, as tragic as it was, I believe is not that far
removed from what many women experience today.
I adore her for her passion, her honesty, her story. DC
opened my eyes to a lot. Reads like a fiction, but she tells
me it is all the truth. WOW!

My last choice for this month is
"The Right Words at the Right Time"
by Marlo Thomas and new Friends.
www.rightwordsbooks.com
If you remember THAT GIRL, you are most definitely
a Baby Boomer. It was a hit in 1966 and she played the role
of Ann Marie, funny that I would remember that!
Well she indeed make an impact on me in the past and still today!
This is Marlo's second volume, I read the first
one last summer and the stories were from well known
celebrities. It was ok. But, I like this one better as it was written
by people like you and me, who have heard the right
words at the right time, that changed our lives forever.
I certainly could write my own volume on all the stories
my Nanny shared with me however this will do for now.
If you are looking for short stories that will resonate
with you for hours, this is my prescription for you.
A perfect addition to any MOM's, Daughters, Aunt,
Sister, Friend's library.
Let books continue to be part of your life today, tomorrow
and all the days ahead.
'cause you matter
Lady Samm
These were last months choices. We will always
add current ones at the top.
"Before I got Here" by Blair Underwood.
Yes the handsome lawyer from L.A. Law.
It is a collection of beautiful insights from children
who believe they were some where else before they
arrived here. One that resonated with me was this one.
"Since age three Paul has said some extraordinary things.
Once, replied, "I am tired of wearing slippers.". I asked him why
and he said, " I wore slippers for sixty-five years when I was here before."
mmmmmmm"

My second choice is "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden.
We just purchased the dvd last week and the movie
was true to the book, but I was sooooo moved by the book.
The history of Geishas was very well researched
and the unfolding of this fiction book was one
that will be digested over and over again.
I am sure I must of missed something.
It sits by my bedside!

My third choice was "Chasing Daylight" by Eugene O'Kelly.
Eugene use to be the CEO of KPMG the accounting firm
when in 2005 he was diagnosed with Brain Cancer which took
his life 100 days later. This is an account of what plans
he made before his demise. I was not only moved
by his candid accounts of daily challenges but his
true passion for his family and friends and
a heartfelt message he wanted to leave with them.
A man of true courage. A man who did
have it all!
See you next month, goodness knows what will
find itself at my bedside.
Will it be yours?
'Cause you matter.
